How do you brand a company called Redacted, architects of the unseen, uncovering opportunities where others see barriers? A company trained to see potential without exposing it. The answer was to go monolithic and simple. That was our intent for Redacted RnD.
In a world of noise and overdesigned brands, precision carries weight. A black and white palette, minimal geometry, and motion as metaphor for seen and unseen. What is hidden becomes visible through interaction. What is visible can just as easily recede.
This act of uncovering shapes a dynamic system, built on restrained, linear patterns with room to evolve. With the help of creative coding, we built a tool that recreates Moiré, or Scanimation, to induce motion and keep the brand alive, serving the narrative. The Moiré effect is an optical illusion that emerges when two similar patterns overlap with slight misalignment, creating a dynamic interference that feels alive.

The Brand
Redacted RnD is built on a simple idea of concealment, where the visual language emerges from the balance between what is hidden and what is revealed. Inspired by redacted documents, its patterns turn absence into structure through repetition, variation, and fragmentation.
Rectangular forms shift, break, and recombine into compositions that feel both precise and slightly unstable, holding a balance between order and distortion.
Rather than decoration, the pattern works as a supporting layer, guiding attention, organising information, and adding depth without competing with core elements. Being vector-based, it scales across formats while staying clear and adaptable.
The result is not a fixed identity, but a flexible visual system where complexity is structured and meaning sits just beneath the surface.
