Kategora is a high-end real estate company based in Spain that offers investors creative financial solutions. The website presents its current portfolio of investments under an immersive and carefully crafted experience designed to engage the senses: from local aerial footage to contextual field recordings to audio design to music specifically adapted and exquisite typographic design, all to provide memorable storytelling.
This website has it all. Including surfers riding the waves. Can you spot them all? Take your time. ☝️
Sustainability is no longer a goal. It's a necessity. It's work. Kategora understands this and they needed a distinctive website to reflect it. The portal also needed to present the narrative underlying its portfolio of investments. So we first encapsulated the concept — “smart living starts with smart building” — and then made it all-enveloping.
This immersive experience features carefully crafted custom-made content ranging from local aerial footage with contextual field recordings to audio design to music specifically adapted from the investors' video for several low-key arrangements.
All these are paired with exquisite typographic design to sow the seed of distinction — a requisite for the target audience. The smooth transitions, sonic experience, and storytelling all serve as similitudes to sustainable investments with zero constraints — just as Kategora guarantees.
The aerial drone footage was shot in Bilbao, the company's city, and Tenerife (Canary Islands), a Spanish autonomous community, so that the investors could glimpse the actual locations of their investments.
Two years have gone by, and yeah case studies are far from our priorities, but we still get the chills whenever we remember how cool it was to shoot our own stock footage.

Here's the thing. Good music is good music even if you have the audio turned off.
We've teamed up with Daniel M. to create a low-key soundtrack to accompany the user while they scroll. Each section was scored to its own mood to reinforce the experience. While on location, we did several field recordings of the woods, the ocean, the quarry, and more, and ended up including them in the videos. In Stereophonic sound. Grab your (nice) headphones and try it!

In the midst of the pandemic, we sent Ivo T., the official Büro photographer, to Bilbao. As we were also in the process of rebranding Kategora, taking the original shape, and polishing it up, we needed a new photographic direction — and oh, yeah we got it.

“What's special about Büro is that it handles technology like those old artisans you can't find anymore. They care about the smallest details and deliver loving-care results. It's hard to imagine any room for improvement.”Kepa Apraiz — CEO & Founder of Kategora
