Where housing innovation is shaped. From construction to preparing your ground, from a tiny house to a big project, Kōzōwood takes care of everything.
Kōzōwood specializes in crafting sustainable houses from nature and sought a website that would provide an aspirational digital experience while also demystifying the adoption of wood as a central element in architectural thinking.
Our meticulously designed website integrates custom audio, field recordings, and tailor-made music, all harmonizing to amplify the narrative of individuals aspiring to embrace wooden houses nestled in nature. The demystification aspect targets architects, showcasing Kōzōwood's services and expertise in achieving best-in-class wooden building construction standards, streamlined processes, and a total commitment to sustainability. The drone and video footage were captured in Comporta, Portugal, where Kōzōwood is set to build hundreds of wood houses over the next few years.
You can’t fake nature, no matter how hard you try. A website that puts nature first can be both real and authentic, and that’s exactly what we aimed for here. Kōzōwood offers much more than just state-of-the-art wood construction or CLT for third parties; it’s the mindset that comes from owning a piece of paradise, like these houses, that drives the experience we evoke through this website. If you feel differently, want to buy one of these homes, or are interested in creating a website like this for your brand, we’re here to help with all of it.
This project was made possible thanks to Vanguard Properties’ commitment to the highest quality standards. Kudos to the entire team involved—this was a rare pleasure to work on with full creative ownership.

Website
The design aims for elegance and sophistication, offering a Zen-like experience as you scroll. Guided by the soft notes of a marimba—a wooden instrument—paired with nature and factory field recordings, it helps ease daily stress while encouraging deeper exploration through the site’s storytelling.
Each header integrates elements of wooden house construction, with typography intertwined with nature-inspired illustrations and seamless WebGL animations. Check the world map infographic on the “Sustainability” page highlights wood construction data, while the concrete vs. CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) comparison on the “Why Wood” page showcases the advantages of wood construction beyond its natural appeal.
For those seeking technical depth, the Journal organizes all detailed information, catering to a more specialized audience that prefers to dig into the data before making informed decisions.
This digital experience brings nature to the screen. Like any meaningful experience, it takes time for full immersion, so let go of the day’s pressures, explore every section, and book a call with Kōzōwood to start your lifetime project.
Immerse yourself in a symphony of custom-made visuals and sounds.
Video
There’s no better way to engage potential buyers than by showcasing the place where they’ll live life to the fullest. Minimal drone shots capturing the natural beauty and local patterns were filmed in Comporta, our personal favorite spot in Portugal.
From lush rice fields to towering pine trees and untouched sandy roads, the footage offers a glimpse of the lifestyle that awaits those fortunate enough to claim one of these unique homes in a truly extraordinary location. Hell yes, now we want one of those houses for ourselves!
Photography
Kōzōwood is building the largest CLT and Woodframe factory in Portugal, supporting Europe’s sustainable construction goals. The photography for the website and social media campaigns was carefully curated in collaboration with renowned architectural photographer Ivo Tavares, with a personal touch from the Kōzōwood team.
From warm wood tones blended with clean architectural lines, the photography showcases everything from excellent construction practices to state-of-the-art factory facilities—all real, no 3D involved, thank nature.
Audio
Oh yes, music and audio effects on a website—who needs that, you might wonder? Well, consider that those ears are connected to a very special sense: hearing. We firmly believe the sonic experience enhances storytelling, adding another layer of engagement beyond just visuals. It perfectly complements the narrative, drawing you deeper into the experience.
Everything is intentionally subtle, designed so users can enjoy it without feeling the need to mute it. We approached it in two ways: field recordings to enhance the nature and industrial soundscapes in the videos, and original music compositions for each section header, created solely with a wooden instrument—the marimba. Our friend Steven Gillon composed different pieces for each section that feature more silence than notes, evoking an Arvo Pärt meets Bach vibe. The result was recorded by Danish marimba artist Kai Stensgaard and is seamlessly integrated into the website experience. What’s not to love, right?
And yes, you can play with the marimba’s isolated notes over the menu. You might think it’s too much, but if you can’t have fun, are you really free? There you have it—the full truth and nothing but the truth: having fun is essential!
I can only praise the excellent work done by Bürocratik in developing the website, kozowood.com. The professionalism shown and the ability to exceed our best expectations were remarkable. They managed to perfectly capture the essence of the company and product — sustainable, oriented towards the present and future, and of high quality — and effectively and elegantly translate it into the digital realm. We are extremely satisfied with the result.
